Discontinued Tile Questions
Matching, sourcing, and options when the original tile profile is no longer in production.
The challenge
When the tile no longer exists.
Many luxury homes in the Denver metro were built with clay tile profiles that are no longer manufactured. When those roofs sustain damage, the repair path is more complex than a standard tile replacement — the tile itself may not be available.
The discontinued tile question affects scope and cost. It needs to be identified and documented before any repair or replacement decision is made.
What we assess
- ✓Tile manufacturer and profile identification
- ✓Production status — current, discontinued, or unknown
- ✓Salvage and reclaim market availability assessment
- ✓Color lot and weathering age match evaluation
- ✓Compatible current-production profile options
- ✓Full system replacement scope when matching is not achievable
- ✓Documentation of discontinued status and matching options
What damage looks like
A chipped edge that can't be quietly replaced.
A corner knocked off by hail is a straightforward repair — unless the tile no longer exists. Documentation of the damage and the discontinued status together establish the full picture before any scope conversation begins.

Common questions
Discontinued tile, answered plainly.
What makes a tile "discontinued"?
A tile profile is discontinued when the manufacturer stops producing it — often after a factory closure, product line consolidation, or a company acquisition. The tile may have been installed on thousands of homes in a region, but replacement stock no longer exists through normal distribution channels.
Can discontinued tile ever be matched?
Sometimes. Salvage tile from demolished structures, overstocked distributor inventory, and specialty reclaim suppliers occasionally carry discontinued profiles. The match depends on the profile, color lot, and weathering age of the existing tile. We assess matchability before any scope is proposed.
What are the options when a match is not available?
When an exact match is not available, the options include: a compatible profile from a current manufacturer (close but not identical), a full system replacement that eliminates the mismatch concern, or a documented "best available" repair with the mismatch noted in the project file. The right path depends on the extent of damage and the homeowner's priorities.
What happens if my tile can't be matched?
It depends on the profile, color, and weathering of your existing tile. We document the discontinued status and the matching options — salvage, reclaim, or a different profile — so you can decide how to proceed. Restoration work happens only under a written agreement.
